Created by Mr. Paul Rawlings, the UK-based classified listing site Tweebay lets Twitterers to buy and sell their stuff on Twitter. Although it sounds quite familar to the popular online aution and shopping website - eBay, but it has no connection with neither Twitter nor eBay.

To use the service, you need not to provide your Twitter credentials and Tweebay only requires users to follow them on Twitter. You'll then receive a direct message to verify your account.

Buying and selling using this free service is simple. If you've an item to sell, you'd have to provide 240 characters to describe your item and a photo to accompany with it. Your listing will be up on Tweebay and to attract more buyers, you can automatically notify all your followers. To buy, you can confirm your bids via direct messages on Twitter.

Even though this is just a start-up that was launched a few days ago, it already has over 230 users trying out the service.

Mozilla released Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 on Monday with many new features such as the anticipated private browsing mode, a new Tracemonkey javascript engine and new functions that make it easy to remove specific portions of Web history.

The private browsing mode helps users to surf the Web without leaving a trace so that when your colleague sits on your computer, he or she will not be able to view browsing history. If your browse normally, you would have to keep deleting your history when you're away. However, sometimes you may be forgetful. Do note that this useful tool isn't like a free proxy site which enables you to surf blocked sites by your ISPs.

According to Mozilla, the Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 "is a public preview release intended for developer testing and community feedback". Other features and changes include support for video and audio built into webpage, support for web worker treads, removed the new tab-switching and preview behaviour based on feedback from Beta 1 users.

I know that there're tons of online translator out there such as Worldlingo, Google Translate, Yahoo! Babel Fish, etc. However today, I would want to share with you guys a cool start-up which it's worth trying it out.

Currently in beta, Frengly is an free online translator which allows you to translate text of over 25 different languages. Although Frengly doesn't provides many features such as document and webpage translaton, at least Frengly does pretty well in its simple text translaton.

To start a translation, simply type in some text into the form provided and click either 'Translate' or the languages tab. Your results will be shown at the bottom.

IE's Market Shares Drop To Under 70% Whereas FireFox & Chrome Head North

According to the latest market share results by Net Applications, Internet Explorer's browser market share fell under the 70% mark to 69.77% and was down more than 10% from the same period two years ago.

On the other hand, Firefox boosted its share to 20.78% and Chrome increases to 0.83%.However, second-placed Firefox is far away from Internet Explorer in terms of browser share. Apple's Safari and Opera have shown steady increases to 7.13% and 0.71% respectively.

Mozilla's CEO, John Lilly shared his thoughts on this accomplishment in a statement.

"Reaching 20 percent worldwide market share is a significant milestone for Firefox and Mozilla. It's a huge achievement by the global Mozilla community, one that just a few years ago most would have considered impossible. The open web is more vibrant than ever, and the thousands of Mozilla contributors around the world have played a major role in making it that way."

Facebook, the world's most popular social networking platform will be rolling out a new feature called 'Facebook Connect" which would allow its users to log onto several high-profiles Web sites using their Facebook ID and see their friends' activities.

Facebook Connect will now enable third party websites to implement and offer even more features of Facebook Platform off of Facebook – similar to features available to third party applications today on Facebook. Facebook will start off with Web sites which include Digg, Hulu, Discovery.com and a few others.

Apple's Black Friday sales attracted a huge number of Apple fans, trying to make use of the Black Friday event to buy Apple accessories, Mac and iPods at cheap bargains. However, the Californian-based tech company is not as friendly as compared to other U.S. retailers.

Most of the Apple products has price cuts of around 5 to 10 percent, lower than several analysts' estimations. For example, a 13-inch Macbook was priced at $1,200, a discount of only $100 whereas the iPod Touch was offered for $378, a discount of $21. Unfortunately, the widely popular iPhone was not on the shelves.

For headphones, users can get $52 off Monster Beats by Dr. Dre Headphone and $16 off each of the following: Sennheiser PMX 80 Sport II Headphones, Sennheiser MX 85 Sport II Earphones, and Sennheiser OMX 80 Sport II Earphones.

UBS analyst Maynard Um said in a research note that Apple's discounts could have some limited impact.

"We believe Black Friday One-Day discounts should help stimulate some demand, though we would think less than last year given the tougher economic environment," Um said.

According to ShopperTrak, the U.S. Black Friday sales rises 3% to $10.6 billion from a year earlier, the smallest gain for a Black Friday in three years.

“So far, so good,” said Craig Johnson, president of Customer Growth Partners LLC, a retail consulting firm based in New Canaan, Connecticut. “But a decent Black Friday figure doesn’t predict the whole season. The question is, how much momentum we can keep” in this “challenging” economic environment, Johnson said.

The world's largest handset maker - Nokia, will stop selling cellphones in Japan except for its high-end brand Vertu due to its small presence of only 1% in the Japanese market. The 1% market share seems pathetic as compared to the Finnish mobile maker's 40% global share.

The main reason why Nokia phones fail to boost mobile sales in Japan is that phones made by Nokia doesn't have many cool features unlike the high-performance local-made devices.

"We have judged that we cannot continue to invest in product development just for Japan amid the current tough economic conditions," Nokia executive vice president Timo Ihamuotila said in a statement.

According to Gartner, huge cellphone makers such as Nokia and Samsung Mobile would expect slow cellphone sales growth next year due to economic woes.

"In the last few weeks, the global economic slowdown, combined with unprecedented currency volatility, has resulted in a sharp pull back in global consumer spending," Nokia said in a statement.

Cellphone sales in Japan fell 28 percent from a year earlier and were flat from the second quarter, and sales in Western Europe also were down, from 47.2 million to 43.5 million. On the other hand, cellphone makers have seen sales rising in emerging markets such as China and India with great thanks to first-time phone users.

There are many elements come into play including but are not limited to basic on-page optimizations, domain age, inbound links, number of indexed pages in search engines, backlinks from social mediasphere (i.e. Digg, StumbleUpon et al) and xhtml, css validation.

Advertisers of these days are more concerned on how a website evolves; whether they are artificially boosted (blackhat) or naturally developed. I came across a few useful FREE SEO websites that provide thorough analysis as I hang out a lot in DP forum. Some of the websites are now buried deep in DP archives and I couldn't find a way to dig them out as most of them resided in threads totally unrelated to SEO things. So I decided to collect and list them (SEO tools that I still remember vividly) in this post.

Here is a list of FREE SEO tools.

1. Website Grader - This website provides a score that incorporates things like website traffic, SEO, social popularity and other technical factors. It also provides some basic advice on how the website can be improved from a marketing perspective.

2. Xinu Returns - Find out how well your site is doing in popular search engines, social bookmarking and other site statistics.
Note: I've seen websites with similar framework and template so I presume Xinu run on a similar script.

3. URL Trends - Features Pagerank, Alexa, number of baclinks from Yahoo & Google and many more. Fast at delivering result.

4. IwebTool - Provide pagerank prediction, in-depth analysis on backlink information, multi rank checker, website speed test and few more analysis.
Note: Pagerank prediction doesn't work most of the time.

5. SEO Book Tool - Features Search Analytics Tools, Keyword Research Tools, Competitive Research Tools, Link Analysis Tools & Search Engine Ranking Checkers.

6. SEO Digger - SEO Digger is a decent keyword gathering and research tool but what it really helps me with is determining a given site's overall theme and keyword focus. Apart from a list of search queries, wordtracker and overture results are also determined (keyword popularity calculated by Wordtracker.com). Data is also CSV-exportable.

7. QuarkBase - Provide overall stats related to social media popularity, traffic details and technical information.

8. Check Page Rank of Internal Pages - This is one of my favorite SEO tools and particularly useful after every pagerank update. The only downside is, it only registers 100 entry before it comes to a stop.
Note: Sometimes it's not responding but that is the only working Internal Pagerank checker I found so far.

A virtual affair is ending a real-life marriage in southwest England.

Amy Taylor filed for divorce when she discovered her husband cheating in Second Life -- an online community where players adopt personas called "avatars," mingle with others and teleport themselves into a series of artificial worlds.

"I caught him cuddling a woman on a sofa in the game," Taylor told the South West News Service press agency. "It looked really affectionate. He confessed he'd been talking to this woman player in America for one or two weeks, and said our marriage was over and he didn't love me any more."

IMDB - US Residents Can Watch Movies For Free

US users of The Internet Movie Database (IMDB) can now watch films and TV episodes free of charge on its website.

More than 6,000 full-length feature films including classic movie Some Like It Hot and TV shows like Heroes and 24 are available to watch.

First episodes of new series like Knight Rider and 30 Rock will also be available for free viewing before their first television broadcast.

The service is currently only available to US users due to licensing issues.

Both recent and classic films are available to watch, including Master and Commander, Raising Arizona and Fiddler on the Roof.

Fans can also watch past TV classic shows like Beverley Hills 90210, Bewitched, Charlie's Angels and Star Trek.

India Sends Probe Onto The Moon

India's first unmanned lunar spacecraft, Chandrayaan 1, has sent a probe onto the surface of the Moon.

The probe, painted with the Indian flag, crashed into the moon's surface at 2034 (1504 GMT), the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said.

During its controlled plunge it took readings including measurements of the composition of the Moon's atmosphere.

The mission is regarded as a major step for India as it seeks to keep pace with other space-faring nations in Asia.

The BBC's Sanjoy Majumder in Delhi says the success of the mission has been hailed in India where many see it as another sign of the country's emergence as a global power.

David Kernell, a 20-year-old college student who was accused of hacking into Alaska governor's Sarah Palin's Yahoo email account in September has his trial delayed till April 20 2009 to give legal teams more time for investiagations and finding more evidence.

The student of University of Tennessee hacked into Palin's "gov.palin@yahoo.com" email account by successfully navigating Yahoo's password recovery system and reset the password to "popcorn". By hacking the email account, he was able to read the contents in it, make screenshots and post his exploits on the Web using the nickname "rubico".

Now that the 2008 election is over, reporters are spilling all the juciest, and previously off the record, gossip from the campaign trail. Much of it is about the infighting between Palin and McCain's staff, as Newsweek's treasures trove of post-election gossip reveals.

However, perhaps one of the most astounding and previously unknown tidbits about Sarah Palin has to do with her already dubious grasp of geography. According to Fox News Chief Political Correspondent Carl Cameron, there was great concern within the McCain campaign that Palin lacked "a degree of knowledgeability necessary to be a running mate, a vice president, a heartbeat away from the presidency," in part because she didn't know which countries were in NAFTA, and she "didn't understand that Africa was a continent, rather than a series, a country just in itself."

Palin was apparently a nightmare for her campaign staff to deal with. She refused preparation help for her interview with Katie Couric and then blamed her staff, specifically Nicole Wallace, when the interview was panned as a disaster. After the Couric interview, Fox News reported, Palin turned nasty with her staff and began to accuse them of mishandling her. Palin would view press clippings of herself in the morning and throw "tantrums" over the negative coverage. There were times when she would be so nasty and angry that her staff was reduced to tears.

Cameron also reports, along with CNN, that McCain's senior foreign policy adviser was fired a week before the election for attacking, in defense of Sarah Palin, various McCain aides who he felt were undermining Palin.

YouTube to Boost Revenue By Selling Ads On Search Pages

Of course, Google founders - Larry Page and Sergey Brin will not missed any money-making opportunities especially from one of their biggest acquistions - YouTube. Google announced on Wednesday, saying that they are selling ad spaces tied to search results on YouTube, trying to boost revenue of the world's largest social video platform.

Using the same concept of Google Search Sponsored Listing, advertisers can bid for keywords related to their videos and the search results will be ranked accordingly to how much an advertiser bids for or how much he or she is willing to pay for a click.

Currently, YouTube earns money from graphical ads, video ads and text ads. The recent deal with CBS and MGM of posting full-length videos has boosted their profits by a few percentage but it seems that it's no enough to cover the $1.65 billion sum which Google paid two years ago to acquire the video site.

"I personally do not believe that the perfect ad product for YouTube has been invented yet," Eric Schmidt, Google's chief executive, said in a conference call with analysts in July.

With the new ad implementation, YouTube will most probably be as successful as what Google has done with its search results sponsored listing.

However, some advertisers might be reluctant to have their messages shown alongside YouTube results for fear of being displayed along some risque or wacky content that could hurt their brands, said Forrester Research anaylst James McQuivey.

Just browsing about until my uncle came up to me and goes you heard about the new pre-beta os from Microsoft? I was shocked to see that the new WINDOWS 7 has supposedly ripped parts of Mac OS. Like the nav bar normally at the bottom of a Mac. I haven't got a deffinate screen shot of that yet but have seen a couple, but im sure you can Google it up somewhere.

I'd personally think this operating system will have alot of bugs like Vista did and still does untill very LATER realeses after they realise that there many bugs in it.

So i'm going to still stick with my XP. :-)

Lesser known is that, most telecommunication companies do provide free email to text service or web SMS feature. Email to text service delivers the content of the mail message to the recipient’s cellphone as SMS text message, while WebSMS allows users to send SMS from a web form. Both email-to-text or email-to-sms service and Internet SMS service allows users or people without a mobile cell phone to send SMS to the recipients for free, such as trick used by iPhone users to send free text SMS.

However, the usefulness of e-mail-to-text service is not ended just for free SMS delivery. It’s also helpful for user who wants to receive SMS or text notification instead of email notification of alerting system without investing in standalone SMS or text messaging gateway. User can forward the email alert or reminder to phone carrier’s email address to receive message in phone directly instead of sending to normal email address mailbox.
